Nat and Roos
Five Searches / July 13 - 19, 2012
Five Searches is a site-specific piece that provides an opportunity for people to listen to the online space they are currently in, as well as our own interpretations of these sounds as they resonate with us musically. Over the course of a week we collected a series of field recordings of life happening around us while using our respective and various internet-related devices. We used these field recordings to create music. Half of the recordings were derived from sounds encountered after searching for the term 'Han Shan Cold Mountain' - framing our sounds within subject matter of ancient searching. Each day will be an evolving record of time in this online space and our response to it - in essence a strikingly banal, but thorough investigation into an often unspoken place we all inhabit.
